  • shift cable adjustment help

I just ordered and had installed a new lower unit for my 2000 Merc 135HP. Great job by sterndrive.cc for customer service and delivery. On my first trip after the installation I noticed that when returning to neutral from forward I needed to go past the middle of the control box to hit neutral. I am pretty confident that I need to adjust the shift cable where it attaches to the engine. Can anybody provide me with the steps needed to make this adjustment? I would prefer to fix it myself and not have to return to the shop.
    thanks in advance.

Try this simple adjustment first. Remove the shift cable from the engine and turn the adjustment barrel so that the cable becomes longer. Try one turn at a time until the units shifts out of gear at the neutral detent for the remote control.

If that doesn't work, please let me know.
