  • exhaust bellows

I have read that the exhaust bellows is optional. If you decide to connect your old exhaust bellows, where does it get attached on the new drive. I do not see where to connect it?

Also what is the benifit or drawback for not connecting the exhaust bellows. How does the path of the exhaust gases change if it is used?

    Thanks for your help.

The problem with the exhaust bellows is the flange on the Mercruiser style bellhousing is smaller than the Flange on the OMC gimbal housing. You may need to shorten your current bellows and make a v-notch in it, so you can clamp it down to the bell housing flange.

Without the bellows, the boat may be slightly louder, and technically the exhaust will breath better, but it is unlikely to be a noticable performance difference. If the bellows is used, the exhaust is routed through the drive, if it is not used, the exhaust just escapes in the gimbal housing area.
