  • SE106 Prop size and Thumping noise question

Replaced a 1.65 Mercruiser with the 1.47 SE 106. Would like to know the ideal prop sze for speed and RPMs. The owner's manual says to operate @ 4200. With a 14 1/2x19 prop we are only at 3900 RPMs.
Also, when the unit is shifted into forward or reverse, there is a thumping noise in the unit.

You probably should try a 17 pitch prop. that sgoulg get your RPMs to 4200-430.

The thumping noise is probalby just normal shifting noise. When you shift you are basically slamming a metal clutch into a metal gear. Check to make sure that the engine is idling like it should (around 650 RPM) and also make sure when you shift you are shifting quickly. You don't want to move the lever slowly.
