  • Winterization

First of all, let me say that I am very happy with the workmanship of the outdrive. It runs great so far and looks great. I have 5 hrs on it so far and I am following your break-in schedule. I may not be able to run it anymore this season. I have checked the drive oil and everything is fine, no water, nothing unusual. Would you recommend changing the oil now for the winter or continuing the break-in next season and changing it at 10 hrs? Should I store it with the drive removed or just leave it down so it will drain? Thanks Guys

    Sir,
You should be fine waiting until next season to change your drive oil. You can leave the drive on in the down position. The advantage to removing the drive is the opportunity to inspect the bellows and inspect and lube the gimbal bearing and u-joints. Also, if you have an Alpha Gen 1 it is the perfect time to change the impeller as part of your yearly scheduled maintenance.
