  • U joint Failure

Well, I finally got around to putting my boat in today. I made it all way home. I went to pull into boat well. I was a little off, so when I shifted in reverse to line it up better, that was the end of my u joint. What is up with that????

I had it towed back to the ramp and took off the outer drive. The center socket is beat to death by the engine drive shaft, but I was lucky it did damage the yoke. The u joint is shot in the engine drive shaft, only one bearing cap left on. I also think it damage my bellows.

Is there something I'm missing when I install the unit?

The only thing that could lead to u-joint failure from improper installation would be if you did not get the seal seated properly into the bell housing and allowed water to get in. Contact our warranty department at 727-461-0811 between 8AM and 5PM with the serial number of your upper unit and they can get you taken care of.
