  • Shifting Problem

I recently purchased a complete SE 106 and installed it this last week. When I tested it with no propeller it shifted great. I launched to start the break-in period with no problems (shifting great), but after two hours into the break-in period and shifting into reverse and forward several times, started to notice the shifting taking more effort than usual at the remote. Headed for the dock, by the time I reached the dock (about 15 minutes) I was have problems getting the unit to shift out of forward or reverse under load (meaning that if I shutdown the engine the unit shifted fine).

It appears that the shift clutch is binding under load. Help.

If the unit has trouble coming out of gear under load it is usually the shift cutout switch not operating. It may just be a matter of adjusting. Email kevin@sterndrive.cc with a request for the shift cable adjustment document and I will send it to you.
