I Have A 1981 Sea Ray 225xl A 22ft Cuddy With A Mercruiser 260 5.7 V8.

The Stern Drive Failed Me At The Far End Of Lake Salimonie . Got A Tow Back To The Boat Ramp And We Got Help From Some Nice Folks Getting The Boat On The Trailer. I Took OfF The Stern Dive BellowS it Was Wet And Looks Like The Gimble Bearing Is Bad Also I Took Off The Top Of The Upper Drive It Is Full Of Broken Gears. Can You Tell Me What Gear Ratio I Need To Order And Any Other Parts I Need. The Drive Looks To Be Original And Old Should I Replace The Complete Unit Or Just The Upper Drive? Thanks For Your Help

You would need the Alpha One Generation One drive in a 1.47 ratio. The upper and lower share the same oil so debris from the upper would go into the lower. You would be safest replacing the entire drive.
