  • SE116 Installed new boat overheats at idle

I just purchased an SE116 for my 95 Larson with a 5.7 Merc Engine . When I run it in a pail or with ears at idle the temp gauge slowly rises to 200'. I have a 140' thermostat. I pulled the water hose off the thermostat housing and I do have flow. I am not sure how much I should have. I checked all the hoses and they are all routed correct . I did a compression test on the engine and it is even across all eight cyl. The engine runs smooth. It has new manifolds and new risers. The exhaust system is free from any blockage. I ran it with the bellows diconnected and water is coming out the risers.

It sounds like an impeller problem. If the muffs did not supply adequate water for even a brief time the impeller will wear rapidly. Contact our warranty department at 813-925-7127 from 8AM-5PM Eastern Monday-Friday. Please have the serial number from the lower unit available for them.
