Repower

I am wanting to repower my Starcraft Chieftan 22 Express. I need an engine and outdrive the engine model is MCM165 serial#4663219 the outdrive is 165hp serial# 4192129. I am in Alabama and looking for something east of the Mississippi.

We only sell the replacement stern drive. If you can tell me the year of the boat I can make sure our unit will work. It should take our SE106 old style (short yoke) and would be the 1.62 ratio. If you install a different motor you may need a different ratio.

I have a cheiftain 21 foot, 1986. It has a 140hp mercruiser 4 cylinder. This is alittle underpowered but makes a good fishing boat. Top speed is about 25 mph @ sea level with 4 people in the boat. Good for fishing and enough power for ocean fishing, just not a ski boat. Thought you might like some info on how well the 140hp GM 4 cylinder engine does. I have to replace my outdrive this winter and will go with a complete se106.
