  • Standard vs couter rotation

OK this may seem like a dumb question but what exactly is different in a couter rotation drive from the standard rotation I mean to remove my counter rotation drive it has to be in reverse which from what i can tell is actually has the gear selector on the lower unit in front to back position same as on my standard rotation unit so other than the difference in shifting linkage on the top of the motor and my CR prop what is really different in the drive unit itself I cannot find anything can someone please tell me.

    Thanks,
    Don

The unit is quite different internally. Basically what is normally the reverse gear becomes the forward gear, so they redesigned the gear and bearings to be able to handle the load.
