Hard lesson learned. Everybody out there, buy the McGard sterndrive locking nuts. For $25 you can possibly save the pain and agony of sterndrive replacement. I'm trying the Sterndrive Eng. outdrive as my insurance company denied coverage due to the boat being in storage. Merc. wanted $7,000 for a new drive and $4,000 for a remanufactured. Only way I'll get the boat in the water is with the $1,400 aftermarket drive SE offers. I'm hopeful the SE part provides me with many years of service.
