  • Coversion of older OMC stringers

I have a 1969 OMC "high profile" stringer outdrive. I would like to convert to a SEI mercruiser style outdrive. Is there a way to do it without rebuilding the transom and cutting a new hole? Would I need a different bell housing for the back of my 1969 307ci GM motor?
    Thanks,

I am sorry, there is no easy way to do it. You will have to pull the complete drive package, redo the transom, then go back in with a mercruiser engine package. A complete package is expensive, so it might make more sense to buy an old boat that has the drive package you want, and pull it out to use it in yours.
