  • 1991 w/o Reservoir

I have a 1991 gen II and just received my drive. The service center who is installing it just called and told me it is built for a reservoir but that first year, MerCruiser didn't have the reservoir.

Is there a special version of the SE 116 or is there a work around for the reservoir hole?

    Hello,
The best thing to do is install a oil bottle if your transom is drilled for it if so there is two brass 1/8 npt plugs. What I did was just go and buy the check ball and seal kit for 6.00 dollars and remove the shinny ring in the hole and install the check ball, spring and sealing ring and be done that is what I did for now till I can find a good deal on the oil bottle setup. :)

Thank you. It turns out the service center called back the next day and said they had figured it out.
