  • Frequently can't get reverse gear

For last two weeks find that shifter won't go into reverse gear and engine stalls on a two month old SE 116. Installing mechanic has serviced unit and checked and adjusted everything he can think of. Last words from him were to check with manufacturer to see if problem is common one he is unfamiliar with. Appears related to usage in following way: If get reverse can shift into nutral and back to reverse almost 100% of time. If, however, go into forward and then try to get reverse may fail 2 in 5 times. Seems to be no problems with forward gears and there was no issue during May through mid September.
    Anyone have experience like this?

Make sure the shift cable is not binding, that is usually the problem. It is unlikely it is in the drive since it is an intermittent problem. If you feel it is in the drive you can contact our warranty department at 727-461-0811 between 8AM and 5PM Eastern time. Please have the serial number from your drive ready, as they will need it.

It's your lower shift cable.... I just had the same problem... Replaced the cable and no more problems.

      Good luck!
