2001 lower

I have a 225 evinrude[2001] that came with a lighting lower that went bad ,I have been told by several omc techs that all v6 lowers from about 93 and up to 02 will work or bolt up with my shift rod and drive shaft,will the 306 model work on those year models too?It came with 1:86 gears or set 5004218,oem numbers.

it does fit and work

just a follow up on the original question, it does fit and work without any modification,just install drive shaft and shift rod to appropriate height.
