    i recently purchased a complete 106 unit installation went smooth. had it out on the watertwice putting on about 9 hrs total. changed the oil. went out the third time it started making a loud clicking noise seemed to run fine got home pulled it off checked gimbal bearing seemed ok. checked the oil, it seemed to have a lot of metal in it should i send it back or change oil and go back on the water hate to break down any thoughts

    You could pull the top cover off and take a look up there and see if anything is going on. Just remove the 4 bolts and be aware of the o-ring that seals it.

    A clicking noise would normally be associated with the u-joints though. Does the noise change when you turn or trim the unit?

      pulled the cover off it looks ok did notice on the upper some cracks in the paint maybe from heat? the noise gets louder as you go faster doesnt seem different on turns will check u joints though and get back to you thanks for the reply
