tech support, thank you for your response about the y pipe. I must confess, I don't know what the y pipe is, what it does or where it is located. Can I see it from out side the boat or inside the boat? Would the outdrive have to be removed or even the engine? Would I be looking for a hole from corrosion or loose or improper connection? Again, many thanks for the input. elsea

The y pipe is what connects the exhausT manifolds together if you have a v6 or a v8 engine. If you have an inline engine, you will still have a pipe, but it will bot be a y pipe. What can happen is the bolts loosen up and will cause a constant leak of water when the boat is in the water. The connection spot is inside the boat, at the very bottom of the transom assy. so it is best to stick your head completely under the engine with a flashlight to see it. If it is leaking and there is no room to tighten the bolts, then the engine needs to be removed to access it.
