I hit a rock and snapped the main shaft on my 1986 Merc stern. I had very minimal damage to my prop. If MERC is so good why did my shaft break so easily.
I did extensive research into rebuilding it on my own.
After looking into the cost of the new parts and special tools required. it became evident that it would be wiser to purchase a new lower unit from SEI.
I even researched purchasing used lower unit and they were around the same price as the new one from SEI. without a warranty.
It looks great and the craftsmanship is excellent.
I highly recommend the SEI Sterndrive.:D
