identify mercruiser outdrive

i have a 28ft. pontoon boat,with 3.0 4 cyl chevy eng.and a omc outdrive. i want to convert it to a mercruiser. i have 2 complete mercruiser outdrives i have been given. i need to know any and all places to look for numbers or identifing marks so i can determine if the conversion kit will work for me.

You didn't mention the year of your pontoon boat. I would need to know that. As far as the mercruiser drives, if you look on the port side if the upper unit, where the decal is, there may be a serial number and gear ratio.
