Shift question

I'm still having issues with the shift interrupt and shift plate adjustment. It looks like my current shift plate is worn and not finely adjustable. I have access to a 3.0 mercruiser style shift plate that is on the valve cover, complete with the interrupt switch. Will this work, and with what modifications or changes? Thanks!

The only issue I can think of may be getting the cable from the remote hooked up to it. It may have different ends. You may need to switch to a Mercruiser cable that goes from the remote to the engine.
