Replace OMC Shift Plate Kit/Switch with Mercruiser?

I have been struggling with the ESA from day one on my 5.7 OMC Cobra SE116 conversion. I was wondering if a possible solution would be to replace the entire switch plate assembly with a Mercruiser kit? This seems like a logical solution. If so, what would be the appropriate part number for it.

864364A1 is the part number. It looks like if you google the number you can find it for around 120.00 or so. It would be a great solution, although mounting it will take a little work since you don't have mercruiser exhaust manifolds.

It should work, you will just need to build a bracket to hold it.
