  • Shift Cable adj. - which dimension to use?

I just purchased a 1972 Sea Ray SRV190 with a SE106 outdrive. The question I have is when adjusting the shift cable the manual states to set the distance from the brass barrel to the end cable hole center to center at exactly 6" for 1974 and later or at 5 7/8" for 1973 and older. Which dimension do I use since the drive is newer and the boat and other mechanicals are older than '73?
    Thanks,
    Brian

The dimension has to do with the throw that the lower unit requires, therefore you would use the 6" measurement.

Thanks, I am having the same problem as others with the shift cut out switch activating into gear and killing the engine. Wanted to make sure I was using the proper adjustment before I started changing things. The shift cable itself moves freely hand so I am hoping it is just the adjustment.
      Thanks again,
      Brian
