  • Determining replacement drive models

1966 Lazy Days houseboat with what looks like one original drive and one later years drive, but both are worn out and eat up with galvanic and electrolytic corrosion. Plans to replace both, but easier said than done; cannot determine correct replacement models to order. Would also like to determine if it's possible to replace all external parts. The Clymer Shop Manual does not give me the info that I seeking. Can you help me determine my best course of action to restore this vessel with reliable drives.

I am not at the office to verify, but I don't believe anything we make would replace a 1966. Unfortunately you would probably need to replace the transom assembly and depending on what motor you have, it might start a domino affect and require different exhaust and possibly even different engines. Can you provide more information, or better yet some pictures of the engines and drives. If you can't upload the pictures, you can email them to tech@sterndrive .cc
