Getting my 1979 Starcraft (260hp Merc Cruizer)While testing, I am having water pouring into the engine compartment in between where the motor mounts to the interior plate of the stern drive I can not see or find the source - have looked at exploded drawings still can not see where feed from stern drive pick up would dumping this amt of water
    Help?

Assuming you have decent access, the main water hose should be visible so you can confirm that is not leaking. You should be able to do a visual of all the hoses I am going to guess that a freeze plug popped put from behind the flywheel of the motor. This will cause water to come out from between the engine block and the bell housing. If its running, then the flywheel starts flinging the water around and it will come out in a few different spots.

Is this accessable with the stern drive removed or will the motor need to come out?

If it is the freeze plug, the motor would have to come out.
