Last weekend a friend of mine was out boating and mangled the upper unit of his alpha1 drive, the boat is a 1985 with a 260hp 5.7l... my question is this, what is the differance between ath old style drive and the new style drive and which do I likely have ... Thanks Josh

The old style is basically anything pre 83 that uses a shorter input yoke. Most of the 4 cyl and straight six engines pre 83 would use the short yoke. In your case you would not need the old style.
