  • Ratio and repair question

I have a 1985 Chris Craft 210 with a 5.7L and a 1.47 drive. After last season I had drained the oil out of the drive and this spring both the upper and lower units where frozen. I purchased a used drive which I later found out has a 1.32 drive ration.

    My questions are:
The 1.32 drive is in good condition. Can I use it instead of the 1.47 as is or can I either change the ratio with your new gears or can I replace the upper unit with your 1.47 SE-106?

Going back to the original 1.47 unit if I can get the upper unit apart can I replace just the bearings with new ones from you and bolt it to the 1.32 lower?

    Thanks for your help. Bob

You can use the 1.32 ratio drive and re-prop your boat. This would be the most economical solution. If you want to go back to a 1.47 ratio you could purchase an upper from us for the same or less than the cost of changing the gears and bearings in the 1.32 you have. If your old unit is froze up you probably would have to change more than just the bearings.
