  • stuck in forward

out cruising when engine reved high.shut down to find out my composite prop blades were gone . changed back to stainless prop .when i started boat i had no gears ,after playing with shift cable was able to get forward gear but no reverse and no neutral.where do i start to find problem.oh yeah pulling on cable and spinning prop does not engage reverse either.thanks

Remove the drive and try shifting the unit by hand. You should not have more than 60 to 70 degrees of travel from forward to reverse. Try moving your shift cable in and out by hand. It is possible that the cable is broken, allowing you to push the shift slide out but not pull it back in.

Once the drive is in forward gear, it will only come out when the shift slide is pulled in by the cable. If the cable is broke it will not pull the shift slide.
