106SE lower unit

In the front of the lower unit there is a small hole... I know that it is a water release hole, but I have a small amount of gear oil leaking from it when the motor is in the up position. 1) is that normal?? and 2) if not, what should I be looking for , ie: where should I start to solve the problem.. Thank you in advance for any help

It is not normal to have oil coming out of the weep hole. If possible, pressure check the halves separately to determine where the leak is. You can spray soapy water around the seal areas to try and pinpoint the problem.
