ID SEI or OEM lower from the exterior?

Any way to identify on a boat without disassembling the drives whether a lower is an OEM or SEI 106?

If you look on the cover nut behind the prop, you should see a part number on it. It should say 98-102-03 That will mean that it is our unit, or at least our cover nut, but we don't sell many covernuts, so it is a pretty safe assumption.
