I'm rebuilding an '88 Regal 210XL that has Merc 488 3.7 (180hp) with Alpha 1 outdrive - gear ratio 1.84. Top end speed is not much of a concern for me, but I would like more torque at takeoff. Originally an option was offered for a 1.98 gear ratio. What do you think of putting an SE106 1.94 on? How would that affect perfomance and gas consumption all around? Thanks, Jim
