Drive Oil Leak from Upper unit ?

I purchased a new lower unit for a Alpha Gen II for my 1997 boat and after replacing with the SEI product, I seem to have a lot of drive oil leaking upon engine start. I am guessing a bad seal from lower unit shaft to upper unit, but not sure what the "seal" would be.

Any suggestions on how to verify the shaft seal from the upper housing ?

The leak may be coming from the seal in the upper unit. To replace the seal the upper unit needs to be dissasembled. The easiest way to find the leak is to drain the oil and pressure test the drive and listen for a leak or spay it with soapy water and watch for bubbles.
