Can SE106/116 outdrives be used with diesel engines?

Alpha style drives are not recommended for diesel applications. Mercury offers a Bravo Diesel X for engines up to 320HP.

Even the BRAVO X or BRAVO XR diesel sterndrive are not strong enough when using af diselengine ( Cummins or Yanmar ).
In Scandinavia there are thousands of unlucky boatowners with dieselengine and Bravo X/XR sterndrive. Several Mercruiser distributors in Scandinavia have informed there customers, that the Bravo X/XR diesel sterndrive have an operating time of approx. 500 hours if the gearlube will be replaced after every 50 hours ( saltwater ) og 100 hours ( freshwater ).
To increase the operating time for a sterndrive - also Bravo X/XR diesel - it could be a good solution to use a shower.I am 100% a danish Viking....:)Comment
