Lower Unit leaking fluid

After replacing small fluid gasket (1/4 inch gasket). The lower unit weeps fluid out weep hole on starboard side. After disassembling small fluid gasket still in place. Gasket that fits impeller housing appears not to be fully seated. There is a small lip that does not appear fully seated. Don't know if this is caused by the action of disassembly. HELP
