My application is a bass boat. It takes forever to put 5 hours on my engine. I did the swap a week ago and took the boat to a tournament. I was only able to log 20 minutes at the touurnament. Before the tournament I logged 2.5 hours at my local lake. I was wondering if the whine would go away at some point?

We do not lap our gears prior to assembly. We allow the gears to lap themselves in during the break in. The whine will diminish as you put hours on the unit.

Just follow the break in procedure, vary RPM and avoid going over 3/4 full throttle for the first 5 hours. Hours 5-10 only run full throttle for short periods before throttling back to 3/4 throttle or less.
